Site Updates - April 2023

I saw a squirrel the other day ripping apart my pool cover. It was trying to get bits of fabric for a nest or something. And it was not letting up! It nearly destroyed my 1 year old pool cover. But I only tell you this story because, like the squirrel not letting up, I haven't been letting up on adding things to this website.

Specifically, I've updated the links page with a few more links, having realized that the most fundamental of longevity and healthspan principles, Strength, wasn't accounted for in the links. So I added a couple good ones. This is something that actually dawned on me while listening to a Tim Feris podcast where he interviews Peter Attia about building muscle and strength. Great podcast. Worth a listen.

I've also added a Tabata Timer... This was a quick one. It's a slimmed down version of a crossfit timer that I created a number of years ago for the iPhone and then later, wait for it... the Blackberry Playbook. Side note - I spent a lot of time writing apps for the Playbook and later the Blackberry 10 phone.

Finally, I also created an app to take an export of the iOS Apple Health data from an iOS device and then transform and export it to CSV. The app also does a number of different plots and graphs of the data. It's actually really neat and I'm kinda proud of this one. I created the Apple Health export and graphs because I've been getting these notifications on my watch lately of a lower than normal heart rate. This isn't uncommon for me - I've had a low heart rate for many years. But the notifications through the night of Bradicardia got me thinking that maybe I should take a look at my heart rate over the last couple of years and see what the trend is.

Besides these things, I've made a few tweaks here and there - made sure that all the links are working and whatnot. I also have a food tracker in the works that I'll be adding here soon. It uses the Canadian Nutrition file and provides the ability to curate a list of meals that you can use to help identify your macros intake for each day. I'm looking forward to getting an early mvp of that one out so I can use it myself!
